Sandra was expecting her first child from one of the officers who had an inappropriate relationship with her before she committed suicide. Sandra was found dead in her apartment and she was said to have had an argument with one of the Stoughton officers that she had a relationship with. On Friday, a police internal affairs report was released in which the officers clearly stated that the officer had inappropriate texts with Sandra while he was still on duty. Sandra Birchmore was just 23 at the time of her death and she was pregnant with the child of Matthew G Farewell, 36. He was a detective at the Patrolmen’s union president and he was a father to a child being a married man as well.

Sandra was just 13 when she met Matthew but when she turned 15 the two of them had an inappropriate relationship and at that time Matthew was in his 20s. Matthew also introduced three of his friends which included his twin brother to Sandra and they also had a relationship with Sandra while she was just a minor at that time. Matthew and Sandra met in a camp that was held by the department to make the youth explore law enforcement. A 60-page detailed report showcased how the relationship between the two evolved and Matthew along with his twin brothers and an officer from the other department developed an inappropriate relationship with Sandra.

A news conference that was held on Friday revealed how Sandra’s intern affairs forced her to commit suicide. It was also reported that on the 4th of February 2017 the case was initiated when Sandra committed suicide and she had a heated argument with Matthew who came to greet her a farewell. McNamara reported that the officer disrespected and violated their oath to serve as police officers as they did such a heinous crime of being in a relationship with a minor. She also said that her heart breaks when she thinks about such things as being a civil servant. While another report from the other three accused states that Matthew had a sexual relationship with Sandra when she was just 15 and he was 27. Also, when the report of Sandra came out being dead, Matthew’s brothers denied knowing her and have been untruthful about their relationship.
