He made his name at Leigh, earning a contract with the club after he and his parents followed brother Alva over to England. He made 280 appearances for the club and won the title with them in 1982. Drummond won 24 Great Britain caps, the first against New Zealand in 1980, the last against France in 1988. In his later rugby career, he left Leigh to join Warrington in 1987. He played his first game for Warrington in 1987. He played right wing in Warrington captaining the side and winning the Regal Trophy against Bradford in 1991.
