Who Is Mila Kunis?
As the conflict between the government and pro-Russian separatists continues, it has become increasingly difficult for Kunis and other people of Lebanese descent to travel or work in Ukraine. In an effort to clear up any confusion about her ethnicity, Kunis has released a statement addressing the matter. It’s been news for the past several days that Mila Kunis, who played Jackie Burkhart on That 70’s Show and starred in Black Swan and Ted, is Ukrainian. Many have criticized her for her stance on Ukraine. However, Mila Kunis isn’t just culturally Ukrainian: she is ethnically Ukrainian as well.
Is Mila Kunis Russian or Ukrainian?
It is a difficult time for Ukraine. Mila Kunis is of Ukrainian descent, a fact that has recently come to light through her work with Save the Children and donations made by the actress. Her mother’s roots can be traced to Kyiv, and her family still speaks the language fluently. What is more, she also has Jewish heritage and is extremely proud of her background. Let’s kick things off with a question from David: What nationality is Mila Kunis? There are some conflicting reports about this pretty actress so I decided to do some research of my own. Mila Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. She moved with her family to Los Angeles when she was seven years old and became a citizen at age 14. Her last name is Ukrainian since her paternal grandfather was Ukrainian and her maternal grandfather was Polish. However, after she emigrated to the U.S., Mila started identifying herself as Russian American/Jewish depending on the reference.
